Wisconsin and Oklahoma governors to tour damage

National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Hultquist said the storms covered so much ground and were so powerful because of a combination of factors, including the dry Texas air that fed them and strong winds in the Great Lakes area.

Forecasters warn more severe weather remains a danger for the rest of the week. Another fatality occurred when a suspected tornado hit Elk City, Oklahoma.

Wisconsin Emergency Management reported that 40 mobile homes were destroyed along with a turkey barn in the same area.

In addition to the touchdown near Chetek, Kyle Kriegl of the Red Cross said, there was a second touchdown in Rusk County, Wis., near Conrath, a hamlet of fewer than 100 people. The storm crushed most of the supervision on the southern border of Elk City, Oklahoma; Elk City is located 110 miles west of Oklahoma City.

"We will continue to assess area damage in the mobile home park and other parts of the county", Fitzgerald said in a press release in the early-morning hours of Wednesday. Crews are conducting damage assessments in the Bruce area where 7-8 homes were damaged or destroyed.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Mike Umscheid says radar images suggest the storm may have produced other brief, rain-wrapped tornadoes as it moved over rural farmland.

Chetek Mayor Jeff Martin said community members also were pitching in.

Coach Gregg Popovich announced before the game that Leonard wouldn't play, adding that it wasn't Leonard's decision to sit. But on the other hand, the Spurs are a veteran ballclub with championship DNA that shouldn't be dismissed that easily.

The majority of damage occurred on the south side of the city, the Elk City Police Department said in a statement. Fifty-three-year-old Bo Mikles was killed as he was apparently fleeing his home when his vehicle was thrown several hundred feet.

He says hail larger than softballs fell Tuesday. It destroyed dozens of homes, killed a man, 46-year-old Eric Gavin, and injured at least 25 other people, some seriously, authorities said.

First responders searched through the rubble overnight.

Mark Tyson said he and his wife Robin were huddled behind a living room chair as the storm hit Tuesday evening when an entire wall of their mobile home suddenly came flying at them.

The Red Cross and Salvation Army are assisting those who lost their homes.

"The worst", Fitzgerald said the extent of the damage. Pictured is an image of the Tornado damage in Oklahoma.

According to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, at least 25 other people were injured as the storm ripped through the Prairie Lake Estates trailer court near the intersection of Hwys.
