Indian team announced for next months Champions Trophy

After weeks of confusing and disagreement between BCCI and ICC, the Indian board has finally revealed the side to defend the Champions Trophy and there were no surprises. R Ashwin, who is now recovering from a sports hernia, and Ravindra Jadeja can perhaps expect part-time assistance from Yuvraj Singh, who kept his spot after his ODI career was given a re-start in the series against England in January.

Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, Rishab Pant spinner Kldeep Yadav and fast bowlers Shardul Thakur have been kept as standby.

"It is a balanced team, an experienced team and I think we have picked the best possible side", Prasad said.

Virat Kohli (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Manish Pandey. "I am pumped up to play the Champions Trophy", he added.

Manish Pandey: Pandey, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders, has been selected as an extra batsman.

When asked regarding Dhoni's batting position for the Champions Trophy, Prasad said: "That is up to the combination and let the team management decide that".

Kane's pride at scoring Tottenham's last goal at White Hart Lane
With his eyes still moist from Sunday's emotional farewell to the Lane , Kane said: "We play a different style to West Ham". The Argentine continued to explain that, " We had the control of the game and played better ".

Pant has scored 972 runs at an average of 81 in the tournament. BCCI decides to fight ICC for its due but show will not stop Mumbai lad Rohit Sharma has made a comeback.

This will be Rohit's first worldwide assignment since October, when he sustained a thigh injury during the ODI series against New Zealand. There were lengthy discussions over some names, but we zeroed in on these 15 names. Mohammed Shami with his quality should also be a certainty but his dodgy knee will always be a concern. Shami has an ability to swing the ball both ways and he's done and troubled a lot of batsmen with his swing and pace in the past. Though Shikhar has given a good start to the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season but he hasn't been consistent. "Not just IPL but one needs to take into account the performance of last one year also in such a big tournament", Prasad said.

Commenting on the chances of India retaining the Champions Trophy, the pacer said, "100 percent India can win the Champions Trophy".

It was surprising that Suresh Raina was not included in the 15 member squad. He is the second leading run scorer with 450 runs from 12 matches (as on May 8, 2017).
