Lancaster General Hospital spokesperson John Lines said "most of the students are between the ages of 13 and 16, the school bus driver is still here with all of the students".

Emergency responders said the Lancaster Mennonite school bus was taking students to school when the crash happened just before 8 a.m.in East Lampeter Township. A light-colored sedan was trying to pass the oversize load that was carrying a mobile home when it hit the load and the escort auto before speeding off.

Fourteen students, the school bus driver and the driver of the escort vehicle were hospitalized, a Lancaster General Hospital spokesperson said.

Twelve of the children and the two adults have since been treated and released, while the two remaining children are reportedly still being treated for more serious injuries.

Investigators say four vehicles were involved: a tractor-trailer, an escort vehicle for the tractor-trailer, the hit-and-run vehicle and the school bus.

The bus was transporting students 7 to 18 years old from Chester County.

The initial investigation has revealed that the driver being sought caused the crash by attempting to pass two oversized tractor trailers and their escort vehicles while traveling east on Route 30, according to the Lancaster County district attorney's office.

One of the students who sustained traumatic injuries has been airlifted to a children's hospital in the area. The escort auto then hit the school bus, which was forced into the mobile home.

"Several pastors are at the Locust Grove Campus today having prayer with the students", the school said.
