Man killed in crash with bus headed to Westosha Central High School

A 16-year-old Ashland High School student was killed when the auto he was driving rear-ended a school bus on Highway 112 two miles south of Ashland at 7:45 this morning.

A vehicle and a school bus were involved in an accident in Kenosha County Friday morning, authorities said. Images from the scene show the front of the white cargo van completely collapsed into the bus.

The bus was carrying 18 students.

Sgt. Eric Klinkhammer said an investigation into the crash is continuing.

Two students were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, according to Sgt. Klinkhammer. The van, which was also traveling west, reportedly struck the rear of the bus.

Along with Salem Lakes Fire and Rescue, four other departments responded to the scene, where students received transportation to the fire station in Trevor. It was not stopped at an intersection, he said.

Highway C was closed in both directions following the crash.
