"Wonder Woman" Broke the Record for Highest Earning Opening With Female Director

Wonder Woman's U.S. haul is the highest opening weekend ever for a film made by a female director.

Here are the numbers to prove it: from 4,165 theaters across the domestic box office in North America, Wonder Woman took in $100.5 million in this opening weekend!

Director Patty Jenkins's acclaimed superhero film surpassed Sam Taylor-Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey, making £100.5 million in the United States compared to the erotic thriller's £85.2 million. The previous record holder was 50 Shades of Grey.

Distribution chief Jeff Goldstein said the film "just resonated with fans", adding: "There's something iconic about Diana and the story of Wonder Woman that's hitting the zeitgeist perfectly".

Everyone is talking about the empowering, record-smashing, box-office busting superhero flick "Wonder Woman", but director Patty Jenkins already has her eye on the next one.

The death toll of 58 is likely to rise in coming days. "There is a feeling from the community that they have been treated badly". Search and rescue teams from London Fire Brigade reached the second from top floor inside the Tower on Saturday.

What's more, Wonder Woman is now holds the title of one of the highest grossing opening weekends for a solo-superhero debut, beating Iron Man and falling just short of Deadpool, Man of Steel and Spider-Man. Gadot's spirited "Wonder Woman" basically joins him in the same mission. She's Wonder Woman. She's got to come to America. Starring Gal Gadot as the Amazonian warrior princess, "Wonder Woman" is the rare - and most successful - female-led film in an overwhelmingly male superhero landscape. Basically, everyone is in love with the movie, including some other familiar heroes. That would bring its global opening to US$223 million, according to Variety, for the third-largest ever opening for a DC Comics film.

Wonder Woman has managed to bag a lump sum box office collection in India after it was released on June 2.

It is safe to say that Wonder Woman is the best DCEU movie until now.
