Democratic lawmaker criticizes party brand, Pelosi

He tried and failed last fall to unseat Pelosi as House minority leader.

Pelosi insists Democrats still have a shot at winning the majority in next year's midterm elections, saying, "The House remains in play now".

Rep. Tim Ryan (R-OH), who challenged Pelosi for the leadership previous year, said on CNN: "The brand is just bad". She said she has told Democrats to stop focusing on Russia's meddling in the 2016 election. Former Clinton campaign spokeswoman Karen Finney was among those tweeting out supportive messages of Pelosi - although it wasn't clear how many were inspired by the tweets sent around from the California Democrat's office. Democrats have to pick up 24 House seats to get back into power. The contentious Russian investigation, for example, is "just disconnected from what normal people and average people are going through".

The House minority leader has served as the face of House Democrats since she helped engineer her party regain control of the House of Representatives in 2007 to become the first female speaker. "Personally I think it's time for a new generation of leadership in the party".

Yet voters weren't persuaded to switch teams, just as in other recent special House races in South Carolina, Montana and Kansas' 4th District, where Ron Estes' 7-point margin of victory was seen as prosciutto-thin. Ryan believes those ads were instrumental in the Republicans' victories.

"There comes a time when every leader has to say, 'For the good of the order and the betterment of the party, it's time for me to step aside.' And I wish that that would happen right now", said Rice.

Pelosi said the Democratic base is energised, adding, "We must now put forth our message".

McMonagle asked. "This is why this case got thrown in the trash can". "And then you drugged her and you did what you wanted". After just six minutes, USA comedian Bill Cosby's legal team in his high-profile sexual assault trial rested their case.

The solution to these problems, Ryan maintains, lies in changing leadership and widening the party's appeal.

"I take their insult against my city as a bankruptcy of their values", she said.

When he's back home, Murphy said, he sometimes chats people up on a commuter bus, and "they are never talking about issues like Russian Federation".

According to a report in The Hill, Democratic leadership has come under intense criticism by the rank-and-file for Ossoff's loss to Handel.

"I think you'd have to be an idiot to think we could win the House with Pelosi at the top", he said. But Pelosi maintained that familiar GOP strategy only proves she is an asset. "I don't really have any real ambition at this point to do anything".

Bloomberg further said that Trump's long-shot candidacy shows that "You can get elected President of the United States without spending a lot of money".

Congress will have to wait to see whether there will be two party leaders named Ryan.
