Cubs go all-in on dynasty with Jose Quintana blockbuster

Not just because it was a trade between the crosstown rivals, but because it was a blockbuster deal involving one of the best pitchers in baseball and one of the top-rated prospects in the game.

Somehow the trade flew under the radar of the national media and these two Reddit users were the first to find out about the Chicago White Sox trading starter Jose Quintana across town to the Cubs for a haul of prospects.

Wade Miley will make the start for the Orioles in Saturday's game against the Cubs.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Sonny Gray and Jose Quintana combination may be exactly what the Cubs need to poise a dominant pitching rotation.

Chicago boasted one of the best pitching rotation in baseball last season with Jake Arrieta, Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks, John Lackey, and closer Aroldis Chapman. The problem? He's in the middle of the worst year of his career. Those contracts belong to last year's 20 game victor, J.A. Happ, and the 2015 MVP in Josh Donaldson. (It later emerged that Rick Hahn and Theo Epstein ducked backstage at the All-Star FanFest to talk business.) Well, nearly no leaks. Cease is ranked 83rd on BA's top 100.

Muguruza hammers Venus to win first Wimbledon title
The strongest initial sign of a renaissance for Williams came during a run to the Wimbledon semifinals a year ago. The last time she appeared in the Wimbledon final was eight years ago when she lost to Serena. "So here I am".

Flete, 24, was hitting.305 with 15 doubles, six homers, 37 RBIs, 45 runs scored and a.355 on-base percentage in 70 games with Myrtle Beach. He would have to headline a package, but he would not be enough.

The Quintana trade doesn't create any more urgency for the Cardinals.

That is Almora's primary position. "We just haven't played well, and we are at probably our most, the longest stretch of positive health that we've had since Opening Day, and we've played perhaps as poorly as we've played all year long over the course of the last two weeks".

The Cubs were in need of an upgrade to steady their starting rotation, which now ranks 17th in Major League Baseball with a 4.66 ERA. That amount of depth is not something that most teams have, and using it is just another one of the tools at their disposal. If Happ is the team's center fielder in making, it's not impossible to think that the Cubs would pull the trigger on Almora. The Cubs signed Jimenez for $2.8 million on August 1, 2013 as a foreign free agent. Los Angeles opens the unofficial second half against Tampa Bay, which took three of four from Boston before the All-Star break to get within 3 1/2 games of the AL East lead.

Starting pitchers of Quintana's caliber don't always get dangled as trade bait. They believe they are set up to contend for years to come with stars such as Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo. In the meantime, Chicago (38-49) will continue to rely on a patchwork of young players and proven veterans during the season's second half.
