'Indu Sarkar' Pune promo event cancelled after threats from Congress

Film director Madhur Bhandarkar had to cancel his press conference organised to promote his film Indu Sarkar on Saturday, after Congress demanded a clarification regarding Bhandarkar's stand on the film. He was supposed to leave for Mumbai by a 7 o'clock flight, but had to reschedule it.

The film's team had planned to visit Suryadatta Institute of Management and Mass Communication today for the promotional event.

Patil expressed the Congress' apprehension that the movie might have distorted the historical facts which may hurt the sentiments of the Congressmen and the public at large and so the movie must be exhibited to the Congress first and then be released. But, he couldn't even get out of his room as Congress members had already started sloganeering outside the college before he reached the spot. They blocked the lobby and porch and sat on a dharna. "But Bhandarkar refused to speak with them for he was not in a condition to speak to them, which we conveyed to the protesters and since there was no permission and no intimation given to the police, we will take legal action against the protesters". We can not let anyone tarnish the image of Indira Gandhi.

Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ:DLTR) Institutional Investor Sentiment Trend
Shares of DLTR have downtrended -11.11% in the past three months, while the industry overall has moved -16.14% in that time. Shares for $518,955 were sold by Matacunas Mike R . on Friday, March 3. (NASDAQ:DLTR) shares were sold by RUDMAN ROBERT H.

Police arrived on the spot and cordoned off the area immediately. Mr Bhandarkar, 48, said the crew had been stranded inside a hotel room like hostages for three hours with the Congress workers protesting in the hotel lobby. "As soon as we got to know, we cancelled the event".

"We are like hostage in the hotel room". I don't understand the demand that they (the Congress) want to watch the movie before its release. "Fortunately, the police came at the right time; otherwise some of them even wanted to enter the room and hit me with chappals and blacken my face". It was only after the intervention of the city police that the Congress workers finally called of the protest after nearly three hours.

Indu Sarkar, which will release on July 28, deals with the controversial state of Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975, a period of deep unrest which saw civil liberties being suspended across the country.
