Iraqi counter-terrorism units reported on July 15 that they had detained 20 female IS members captured in a secret tunnel discovered under the Old City neighborhood of Quleiat.

"The rough terrorism in the region is nothing separated from the U.S. proxy war and therefore, the terrorists' failure in major parts of Iraq, specially Mosul, is considered as the United States failure in the region and means victory of resistance (front)", General Jazzayeri said.

Last week, Iraq declared the complete liberation of Mosul some three years after the northern city fell to Daesh terrorists. The group of women, who were arrested on July 13, included five citizens of Germany, three citizens of Russian Federation, three citizens of Turkey, two citizens of Canada, one Chechn and six from Libya and Syria, according to al-Araji.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi announced the liberation of Mosul on 10 July, describing it as an "absolute victory" after months of fierce fighting with Daesh.

The Arabic language website of RT website quoted an Iraqi top commander, Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, as saying that during the operation to retake Mosul from ISIS, at least 25,000 terrorists including 450 suicidal militants were killed by 100,000 Iraqi forces.

Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmad Jamal on Sunday denied Baghdad's intention to militarily intervene in Syria to fight the terror group Islamic State (IS). Iraqi forces often turned to artillery and US -led coalition airstrikes.

Daesh stronghold in Syria's Raqqa is also close to falling.

The Mosul offensive has taken much longer than expected, with Iraqi government advances slowed by the need to avoid civilian casualties.
