In the latest study, WalletHub looked at 23 factors to gauge a city's attractiveness to first-time homebuyers.

WalletHub compared 300 cities using a variety of metrics, including affordability, quality of life and the real estate market.

The Washington, D.C. -based financial analyst site ranked 300 cities nationwide on their suitability for first time homebuyers, including 13 cities in Colorado. The issues that caused the District to rank so low included its limited affordable housing options, high cost of living, property crime rates, and median home price appreciation.

The Lone Star State is a great place for first-time homebuyers to get their feet wet.

The top five overall best cities were, McKinney, Texas, with a score of 68.32, Frisco, Texas, which scored 68.2, Allen, Texas, with 68.15, Cary, N.C. scoring 67.98 and Norman, Oklahoma scoring 67.64. However, choosing the city to buy that first home in is a big part of ownership. Cost of living to real-estate taxes to property-crime also came into play for these results.

The WalletHub study comes as Colorado Springs continues to experience a robust housing market.
