Smriti Irani Gets Additional Charge Of I&B Ministry

As part of a Cabinet reshuffle during the ongoing monsoon session, Textile Minister Smriti Irani has been handed additional charge of Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

A prominent leader of the BJP, Venkaiah Naidu has also served as its national president from 2002 to 2004.

Mr. Tomar, who is in-charge of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj portfolios, will be taking care of Urban Development ministry too. Mr Tomar is the Minister for Mines.

"The additional charge of the Ministry of I&B has been given to Smriti Irani", PM Modi tweeted. Initially, Prakash Javadekar took the charge of the ministry but it was shortly after handed over to Arun Jaitley for a period of two years from 2014-2016.
