According to a statement from the University of Texas Police Department, university police officers answered a report of the smell of marijuana outside a campus dormitory around 12:30 AM on Sunday, July 16.

The officers found three cars with marijuana in each and a gun in one of them.

Forman was taken by police into custody then later released after posting bond.

Foreman was charged with marijuana possession and unlawful carrying of a weapon, both misdemeanors, and released on bond.

The team issued a statement via Twitter.

"We are confident this matter will be resolved justly once the state of Texas applies the applicable law to the facts", Foreman's Austin-based attorney Sam Bassett said in a statement.

Update: The Texans have released the following statement, saying Foreman did not use or possess the marijuana and that the handgun was legal.

Lewis said his client, while leaving his vehicle was approached by the police and told police prior to them searching his vehicle that his handgun was inside the vehicle, which was his.

One of the passengers inside the vehicle owned by Foreman had marijuana in his possession.

Foreman fell to the Texans in third round.

Foreman subsequently was arrested and booked into Travis County Jail.
