However, the Max 2 still manages to sport a slim unibody despite the larger footprint.

Chinese smartphone major Xiaomi launched its big-screen smartphone Mi Max 2 in India today.

Unveiled in China in May, Mi Max 2 is the successor to Mi Max phablet that came to India last June. The smartphone is successor to the company's Mi Max phablet launched a year ago.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 specifications and features: Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a 6.44-inch full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels), and there's Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. As per the company claims, a full charge can last close to two days.

Another highlight of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is the massive battery life that it offers. Starting January, the company has launched three Redmi devices - Redmi Note 4 followed by Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A, and another ecosystem product Router 3C. This means that hardware is self-sufficient in managing power efficiently while providing a respectable performance. There's 4GB of RAM on offer, along with 64GB of storage as well as a microSD slot. The Mi Max 2 sports a 12-megapixel camera on the rear with f/2.2 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus and a dual-LED (dual-tone) flash. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies.

Ed Sheeran on Game of Thrones Has Caused a Twitter Storm
Ed Sheeran has deleted his Twitter account only hours after he was criticised for his cameo performance in Game of Thrones . Sheeran invites Arya Stark - played by Maisie Williams - to join his men around the camp fire in the season seven opener.

The biggest improvement though is the build of the device.

Xiaomi, that clocked over $1 billion in revenue in India past year, shipped 23.16 million smartphones in the second quarter of 2017, a whopping increase of 70 per cent from the previous quarter.

The phone comes with rounded corners on an all-metal body. We have only spent a few hours with the device and even though it is a large smartphone, it is by no means hard to hold. This probably a no-no for your jean trouser's pocket. We have to say that the device feels special, but we will see if all that refinement stands up to the daily abuse this phone has to see till our final review.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is priced at Rs. 16999. When in the landscape mode, the phone automatically switches to the stereo speakers. The most interesting thing to note about the Mi Max 2, is that it has a 5300 mAh battery. The device runs on Android Nougat 7.0 operating system. But, how would you define regular usage and what is the standard benchmark for Xiaomi's new phone - or rather its new super-sized phablet - since the original Mi Max already comes with quite an unbelievable battery life.

Xiaomi is holding a special third-anniversary sale in the country on July 21 and July 22 in Mi.com, where the Mi Max 2 will be up for sale at Rs. 16,999.
