Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut 2016 second-round pick Roberto Aguayo

After an incredible career at Florida State where Aguayo made 198-of-198 PATs and 69-of-78 field goals, the Buccaneers traded up in the second round of the National Football League draft to grab Aguayo with the 59th overall pick.

He is one of only four kickers in the last 26 years to be drafted in the top two rounds, joining current Giant Mike Nugent (Jets, 2005, 47th overall), the Raiders' Sebastian Janikowski (2000, 17th overall) and retired Lions mainstay Jason Hanson (1992, 56th overall). Aguayo pinged the extra point attempt off the uprights - he called the miss "unlucky" after the game - and missed the field goal attempt wide right.

It's a pretty stunning fall from grace for Aguayo, who was arguably the best kicker in college football history. Although it was his only attempt, Folk's kick was two yards further than Aguayo's longest field goal in 2016.

On Saturday, one year after paying a heavy price to draft the kicker, the Bucs cut Aguayo.

The regular-season opener will be played on the road when Tampa Bay takes on the Miami Dolphins.

Shakespeare was true to his word and started Riyad Mahrez despite the Algeria global asking to leave the King Power Stadium. The speculation is always going to be out there at this time of year.

"Honestly, the [extra point] felt good, " he said. I want to change this.

"Like I remember I told him as a sophomore, remember I told you in the spring he wasn't kicking really good".

Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter sounded extremely frustrated with his kicker after the game. Obviously not up to the standards that I want. You're a kicker. You gotta make your kicks. "You just have to keep your head up move on to the next day". I had a field goal in there but at the end of the day, it wasn't what I wanted.

"You know, I keep saying it, I can't say it anymore", Koetter said.

"When you get bored doing something, 'well there's more I can do".
