Walmart Apologizes For 'Own The School Year' Gun Display

A photo showing an inappropriately placed sign that reads "Own the School Year Like a Hero" located directly above a glass case filled with guns went viral on social media Wednesday, Aug. 9, sparking outrage and backlash from concerned customers. "We're very sorry and checking into how this could have happened".

Wal-Mart has been running an ad campaign this back-to-school season called "Own the school year like a hero".

Initial reports were the display was at a Walmart store on Evansville's west side.

"It was never confirmed the sign was [at the store in Indiana], and it wasn't confirmed that this was the store in question", Mr. Crowson said.

Leeanna May said she was at the Evansville Walmart early Wednesday morning with her husband near the sporting goods section, where May spotted what she described as the "disgusting" display.

The time it takes to charge up Super Abilities has been reduced, as Bungie admitted that was an issue in the console beta. Yes, Destiny 2 on PC will include the ability to specify a frame rate upper-limit (via a config file).

"We have already lost so many innocent lives to guns", she said, adding that she made the immediate connection between guns and school shootings when she saw the display. "... People don't seem to honestly care".

Walmart spokesman Charles Crowson says the photo is consistent with the interior of its stores but that the company hasn't determined which one, or even if the image is real. 'This was awful and we removed the sign as soon as we found out'.

That tweet, though, wasn't the first time Walmart heard about the signage situation.

A picture reportedly taken at a Walmart store is turning heads on social media. A banner reading "WE WILL NEVER FORGET" topped over the display.
