Shinji Okazaki scored a fifth minute equaliser, Jamie Vardy put Leicester ahead and Danny Welbeck levelled for Arsenal before halftime.

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud staked a claim for a starting place with the victor in a thrilling season-opening 4-3 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League on Friday.

Arsenal welcomed Leicester City into Emirates Stadium on Friday to get the festivities rolling this season, and it appeared as if everyone would get a chance to use their Arsenal jokes for at least the next week.

Nevertheless, it was Arsenal who emerged victorious, as two goals in the final 10 minutes from substitutes Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud sealed a dramatic victory for the Gunners.

But after deciding to stick it out for a sixth season at Arsenal, Giroud was the north London club's match-winner on the opening day of the new Premier League campaign after coming off the bench. He doesn't want to leave and I'm happy that he wants to stay.

Giroud had been seriously considering his future following the £52 million club record signing of Alexandre Lacazette and Wenger's certainty but has been persuaded to stay in what is now a "super sub" role.

The latest United States economic data cemented expectations that inflation will remain subdued amid a robust labour market. Japan is the world's biggest creditor country and there is an assumption investors there will repatriate funds in a crisis.

Manager Arsene Wenger this week revealed that he gave the player the option of leaving, but that he chose to fight for his place.

"We kept going and the spirit of the team was absolutely outstanding", Wenger said. He also labelled the former Montpellier marksman as being "in his prime" and "at the top of his game".

"After that, let's take it game by game - go to Stoke - then to Liverpool, who are as well one of the teams who want to win the Premier League".

"We went for a win and we deservedly earned it".

"I feel as well that the goals we conceded, we can work together to get rid of that because one was a corner, one was a ball we lost in the build up and the third goal was on a corner again, so we conceded two goals on corners". I'm disappointed with the handball in the build up, but once the corner's given you have to defend it better.
