Paramount Studios and Universal Pictures are now in a bidding war for the rights to the upcoming book Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson.

DiCaprio will reportedly produce the movie with Jennifer Davisson through his production company Appian Way, which has produced many of his films including The Revenant, The Wolf of Wall Street and Shutter Island.

Univeral is apparently very interested in Isaacson's book, as well, turning the rights battle into a seven-figure tour de force.

The biography in question was written by Walter Isaacson, who wrote the biography of Steve Jobs that eventually became the Danny Boyle-directed, Aaron Sorkin-scripted, Michael Fassbender-starring film of the same name.

Known as the painter of "The Last Supper" and the "Mona Lisa", da Vinci is also famous for his inventions and scientific works, including his drawing of the Vitruvian Man which represents the ideal human proportions.

ICM Partners brokered the deal for Isaacson and his book, "Leonardo da Vinci", in advance of its release.

According to info from the publisher, Isaacson used Da Vinci's notebooks to weave a narrative that connects his art to his science and voracious curiosity and imagination.

The biopic marks DiCaprio's ninth project in which he plays a real-life character.

An often-circulated legend about DiCaprio traces the star's name to a time his pregnant mother was looking at a da Vinci painting and her future son kicked for the first time thereby inspiring his unique name.
