President Buhari Receives Lai Mohammed, Others, Says "I'm Okay"

In what appears to be a "shut up" message to his critics, President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday played host to members of his media team led by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, at the Abuja House in London.

Amidst protests asking for his immediate resumption or resignation, another "tourist" team has been to visit President Muhammadu Buhari in London where he is still receiving medical attention more than 90 days after he left the country.

In a statement by his Femi Adesina, Buhari confirmed that his health had tremendously improved and wished to return to Nigeria.

Buhari, who spoke 96 days after he commenced the latest round of his medical vacation overseas, yesterday, was quoted as saying: "I have learnt to obey my doctors' orders rather than being the one issuing the orders".

Adesina also quoted the president as saying that he feels he could go home "but the doctors are in charge".

On how he felt hearing different conjectures about his health, Buhari said he followed events at home closely, lauding Nigerian television stations, and the media generally, for keeping him informed. It gave us a lot of latitude.

On Kenya's request for Nigeria's support for the candidature of Ambassador Amina Mohammed, Kenya's Foreign Minister, who is vying for the AUC chairmanship, President Buhari said Nigeria will hold robust consultations with other African leaders on the need for strong and capable leadership that will respond to the current challenges facing the continent. Also there was Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters. I thank all those who are praying.

The president's chief spokesman added that Buhari sent his appreciation to all Nigerians and was optimistic that he would join them soon. "May God reward them".
