Romelu Lukaku announced his arrival at Old Trafford by scoring twice on his Premier League debut for Manchester United as they embarrassed West Ham.

Romelu Lukaku scored in seven straight Premier League matches for Everton against West Ham between 2013 and 2016.

"When I joined a year ago I thought immediately that we needed a kind of Matic but there are not many", Mourinho said.

"So we are having conversations and we are discussing the possibility of him staying with us for the second part of the season".

Mourinho, though, insists he is not getting carried away.

The 25th edition of the English Premier League took off to a startling start as Arsenal narrowly edged past former champions Leicester City in the season-opener.

"We didn't start especially well, maybe we were a bit nervous, but then we had a quality performance, good personality and word which I like: confidence". We have reasons to be optimistic.

Guardiola was pleased with his side's dominant display and expects his squad to go from strength to strength as they bed in.

"We have had a better pre-season than previous year and we have the confidence levels of a team that has won a European competition and returned to the Champions League". Matic was outstanding in midfield, covering plenty of ground and laying the foundation for many of United's attacks.

"It's always important", said Mourinho when asked about Lukaku's debut.

Perhaps conscious of criticism of his tactical approach as negative, Mourinho could not resist noting the way his team had finished the game with two late goals.

He added: "It depends on what is happening or what was happening behind doors and we don't know". We have him and we are very happy. The Portuguese thus did enough and he remains very popular among players, most staff and fans, but expectations are greater for this season.

Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are back with the team as they were suspended for the clash in Macedonia and should get to feature at some point.

The Mexico worldwide also scored the final United goal of the Ferguson era in the 5-5 draw with West Brom, something he's extremely proud of. Shaw has been the first-choice left-back but Matteo Darmian did quite well in the role during the UEFA Super Cup final against Real Madrid, and is likely to be deployed there. He likes the team and the team likes him.
