"Fucking nuts", Grohl said after a neat finish, and Astley left the stage.

Trump also tweeted message of support for the victims, in which he said the United States "condemns the terror attack". Politifact, another fact-checking website, gave it a " Pants on Fire " rating.

As luck would have it, both Rick Astley himself and the Foo Fighters were on the bill at this year's Summer Sonic Festival in Japan.

"Ladies and gentleman, would you please welcome our new best friend, Rick Astley", Grohl asked of the audience. It started up with overtones of Nirvana classic Smells Like Teen Spirit before settling into a rocked-up version of the well-known song. After taking a few moments to discuss what was about to happen with the pop singer, Grohl continued: "This is fucking insane".

However, Astley chose to Rickroll the entire audience when he ditched the classic Nirvana track at the last second in favor of singing his own lyrics to "Never Gonna Give You Up" over the music instead - and it fit perfectly.
