Honda developed its first electric vehicle for Europe

The concept vehicle is built on a completely new platform, and sets the direction for the technology and design that will appear on a future battery electric Honda production model.

Honda has not revealed any details of the Urban EV's powertrain, such as performance or driving range, but the company launched the auto alongside "Power Manager" - a charging system created to incorporate electric cars into the national power grid. Whether the facility to display messages between the headlamps, such as greetings and advice for other drivers, will make the production model is much more open to question. When a production version of the Urban EV Concept hits the road in Europe, it'll be one of the first all-electric Hondas available in the region. Honda president and CEO Takahiro Hachigo said: "This is not some vision of the distant future; a production version of this vehicle will be here in Europe in 2019".

The tiny concept is even smaller - by 100 mm - than the diminutive Jazz supermini.

Honda is not quoting details of the EV Urban Concept's performance or its range yet, but it will no doubt take advantage of the Power Manager Concept also launched at the Frankfurt show.

Nearly every manufacturer is planning on launching an all-electric vehicle in the next few years, and this will be Honda's entry - the Urban EV.

Tony Allen finalizing 1-year deal with Pelicans
Allen won an National Basketball Association championship alongside Kevin Garnett , Ray Allen , andPaul Pierce back in 2008. With the Pelicans in desperate need for wings, due to injuries, Allen may be the team's starting forward on opening day.

There are bench seats both front and rear, which does beg the question as to how rear-seat passengers access the cabin, but there's a wonderful lounge-like vibe to the vehicle.

Honda's Urban EV Concept can accommodate four occupants, across two bench seats finished in different materials. The interior is dominated by a large floating dashboard with a panoramic display screen. Exterior mirrors are replaced by views shown on further screens curving from the dashboard and into the doors.

Honda also detailed its vision for a future in-car concierge functionality that detects the emotions behind the driver's decisions and then applies what it has learned to make new choices and recommendations.

Honda's Urban EV Concept showcases the company's vision for a world where mobility and daily life are seamlessly linked. Honda's Power Manager Concept, revealed alongside the Urban EV Concept in Frankfurt, is a smart system that can store energy more efficiently, releasing electricity generated by renewable sources back into the home or selling it back to the grid. This behaviour is then considered when the vehicle offers new choices and recommendations.
