No Nougat for BlackBerry Priv, Says Company's Executive

According to a report from CrackBerry, the Blackberry Priv received the Marshmallow update in 2016 and that it is almost impossible to bring all the partners together for this update.

BlackBerry consumers may be in for bad news as there will be no Android Nougat update for the BlackBerry Priv.

Further, Thurber did not clarify whether other DTEK smartphones including DTEK 50 and DTEK 60 will receive future OS updates or not.

Just to recall, BlackBerry Priv was launched in 2015 in India and received the Android Marshmallow update in the year 2016.

BlackBerry confirms Priv will not get Android Nougat

Alex Thurber commented as to how getting updates for these devices was a complicated process including partnerships with Carriers and chipset makers.

However, the phone will continue receiving security updates along with other DTEK series' phones.

It would seem that the time to transfer BlackBerry Priv, taking into account the originality of its design and great stylish design to a more modern firmware, at least on Android 7 Nougat, not to mention Android 8 Oreo, but, alas, this will not happen - Android will be the sixth for this device. Unfortunately for BlackBerry users will be facing these limitations.

If you go by the specs of the BlackBerry Priv - Snapdragon 808 chipset, Adreno 418 graphics chip, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage - one could make the argument that this phone could probably run Android Oreo. It had a slide out physical keyboard and a touch display unlike the KEYone which has the keyboard and screen fused together. It features a 18MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and OIS. No Nogat update sadly, but on a positive note, the device comes with added features like DTEK security and BlackBerry Hub.
