PM Modi, Belarus President witness exchange of MoUs

During the visit, the two sides are expected to discuss bilateral cooperation in defence & security, trade & investment, science & technology and people to people exchanges.

Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on Tuesday witnessed exchange of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The visit is taking place in a year when Belarus and India are celebrating 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

He said the tow countries have agreed to scale up their partnership and diversify economic linkage with focus on natural complementaries between the two.

On his part, Lukashenko said that he was interested in India's growth so that the world can become more multi-polar.

"We will also cooperate in global and regional levels", Lukashenko said.

President Lukashenko was accorded a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on the president of Belarus before his talks with Modi. This is his third official visit after 1997 and 2007.
