Athletics: Olympic legend Johnson excited for LA to host 2028 Games

While LA hosted its last Games 32 years ago, the Olympics start in Paris at the same time as the 100th anniversary of the city hosting its last Games.

Four-time gold medallist Michael Johnson is thrilled at the prospect of Los Angeles hosting the Olympic Games in 2028.

The IOC decided in July to award both Games at the same time, following the withdrawal of four of the six cities bidding for the 2024 Olympics, amid concerns about the size, cost and complexity of organizing the world's biggest multi-sports event. It marks the first time that the global body has awarded two Summer Olympics at the same time.

United States Olympic Committee Chairman and U.S. IOC Member Larry Probst said: "Today is one of the most significant days in the history of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic movements - and it's one we've been waiting to celebrate for many years".

Apple stealthily hikes iPad Pro price - Is Brexit to blame?
A price hike has been made to both the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch varieties of iPad Pro with little acknowledgement from Apple. As well as hiking the cost of AppleCare+ for some devices, Apple also raised the price of some iPad Pro models.

Paris last hosted the games in 1924. The Olympic Games are intimately woven into the history of this ever-evolving city - it is part of what defines us.

"I think the closer we get to the Games, when 2020 [in Tokyo] arrives I think that'll be an exciting time for everyone, getting into the Olympic spirit, supporting the USA team but also knowing the Games are coming here in eight years time. These Games will build on the legacy that began in 1932 and was cemented in 1984, and will touch the lives of Angelenos and Americans for decades to come".

It marked the final act of a campaign that had been stripped of the usual intrigue ever since Paris and Los Angeles agreed to carve up 2024 and 2028 in July following encouragement from the IOC.

It also means Paris will become the second city to hold three separate Summer Games, after London and before Los Angeles.
