Toyota Land Cruiser gets a refresh in Europe

Depending on the market, the Land Cruiser Prado is offered with either turbocharged inline-4 or V-6 engines.

Do we get the V8 version now?

The exterior changes to the Prado include a new hood, fenders, grille, headlamps, tail-lights, wheels and front bumper. Eastern European markets also get the option of 2.7 and 4.0-litre petrol engines but there appear to now be no plans to offer these engines to United Kingdom buyers. The former is mated to a five-speed manual while the latter gets a six-speed automatic transmission. As a result of these changes, the Land Cruiser Prado is now longer than the previous model. In profile, the auto looks different thanks to a taller front bumper plus realigned wing lines and bumpers, all on the same horizontal axis.

Around the back, fresh taillights make an appearance alongside a new rear bumper.

New Federal Self-Driving Guidelines 2017: 6 Highlights
Released a year ago , the rules asked automakers to follow a 15-point safety assessment before putting test vehicles on the road.

Pick your Land Cruiser with 17-inch alloys and you now get a low-rolling resistance tyre, or there are high-gloss 18-inch rims, and new 12-spoke 19-inchers for maximum urban truck appeal. The Land Cruiser sells in more than 190 countries all over the world, so it's the best Toyota in terms of availability.

The front seats gain ventilation while the rears are now heated, plus there's automatic climate control, electric heated windscreen, heated washer nozzles, reverse-tilting door mirrors and a new key design.

Toyota has taken the wraps off its facelifted Land Cruiser Prado (sold as the Land Cruiser in European markets) at the ongoing Frankfurt motor show. The controls for drivetrain, driving and comfort have been separated in function-specific zones, with ergonomics optimized so that they are easy to use in even in extreme conditions. The steering wheel is also new, and is shared with the V8 powered land Cruiser.

More significant tweaks lie under the skin, where Toyota's Safety Sense driver assistance pack is now standard across the Prado range, bringing a collision avoidance package with autonomous emergency braking and a blind spot monitor to every model.
