Palmer looked fine in camp and in his preseason work. Not only does Johnson's absence hurt the running game, he was also Palmer's favorite release valve when pressure came. The Cardinals can not allow Justin to be a weak link in this defense or it will cause much trouble for this team going forward. It means the QB is going to be the struggling Scott Tolzien or newcomer Jacoby Brissett, who was just acquired before the first game. The NFL, and life in general, are just kind of amusing that way. Carson Palmer threw for 314 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-11 beat down of the Andrew Luck led Colts at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. We don't expect that to completely disappear with Johnson and Humphries out, of course.

Now his duties, at least initially, will be spread around and given to three different running backs - Kerwynn Williams, a former seventh-round draft pick by the Colts, Andre Ellington and veteran Chris Johnson. He hasn't started regularly since the 2014 season, and has not broken 700 yards rushing in any single season.

At this point, who knows? Tolzien was 9/18 for 128 yards and two interceptions in the loss.

Goodbye Cassini: NASA spacecraft makes 'death plunge' into Saturn's atmosphere
This Grand Finale , as NASA calls it, came about as Cassini's fuel tank started getting low after 13 years exploring the planet. The obedient little machine sent home data to the very end , revealing possible secrets of Saturn's atmosphere.

Now, the Colts have chose to start Brissett in their Week 2, home opening game against the Arizona Cardinals, as confirmed by the Indianapolis Star. Cardinals K Phil Dawson and Colts K Adam Vinatieri are only active players left in league who started careers in 1990s. He healed after tearing his ACL for a second time, this time in Arizona. It was a streak that began with Jeff George as Indianapolis' quarterback, them Jim Harbaugh (now head coach at Michigan), then a couple of games with a guy named Peyton Manning calling the signals.

On top of that, Indianapolis will face a Cards defense in Week 2 that ranked fourth against the pass last season.

Without Pro Bowl cornerback Vontae Davis in the lineup and any frontline pressure to speak of, the still unsafe Larry Fitzgerald and the rest of the Cards' offense is poised to have a field day against a struggling and tired Colts defensive unit that allowed Jared Goff to have the best game of his career a week ago. The Cardinals have a bunch of playmakers at receiver, but the line needs to keep the Colts pass rush away for a while so Palmer can take advantage.
