Massive fire guts part of RK Studio

The sets of Sony TV's upcoming show Super Dancer went up the flames when a deadly fire gutted the set at the famous RK Studios in Mumbai. We are hopeful that we will be able to make amends by that time and get the set ready.

PS Rahangdale, the chief of the Mumbai fire brigade, said that the fire was called in at 2.22 pm.

At least six fire tenders, five water tankers and ambulances were rushed to the sprawling studio in north-east Mumbai and brought the conflagration under control after over an hour. As per reports, fire is confined to electric wiring, electric installation, decoration equipment. The RK Studio was founded and setup by legendary actor, filmmaker Raj Kapoor in 1948.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor on Saturday rued the "irreplaceable" loss of memorabilia and costumes from his home banner's movies after a portion of the family's iconic R.K. Films & Studios here caught fire on Saturday. The fire broke out at around 2:32PM in the afternoon and around 10 fire engines were sent to the spot.

The films made under the RK banner include Aag, Barsaat, Awaara, Shri 420, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby, Satyam Shivam Sundaram.
