USA mother who refused to vaccinate son is sent to jail

- A judge has ordered a MI mom to spend seven days in jail for not vaccinating her son.

Bredow had a week to have the child brought up to date on his vaccines, according to the judge's court order.

On Wednesday, Bedrow went before a judge to plead her case.

"This order has taken on a life of its own, your honor, and it is my fault I have not stood up sooner and explained to the court that I'm an educated, vaccine-choice mother", she said.

Anti-vaccination advocates - or anti-vaxxers - believe that immunising children exposes them to harm, and could be linked to autism. McDonald granted temporary custody to him and ordered the boy to be properly vaccinated.

In Michigan, parents are allowed to avoid having their children immunized if it conflicts with their religious or personal beliefs.

The judge said Bredow has a history of making child-rearing decisions without consent from her ex-husband.

Tom Brady notes inconsistencies leading to Patriots' 2-2 record
Take the New England Patriots , who not only own a nine-game road winning streak, they're 8-1 against the spread over that span. Offensively, the Patriots are averaging 32.2 points and 423.8 total yards (328.2 in passing and 95.5 in rushing) per game.

A MI mom was sent to the slammer for repeatedly refusing to vaccinate her son, according to local reports.

Bredow was given one week to get her son vaccinated, but refused citing her beliefs.

The federal government does not legislate child immunisation, only issuing recommendations while leaving requirements to states or local school districts.

Child immunisation rates in MI are among the worst in the nation, ranking 43rd among the 50 U.S. states, according to Mlive. If she did not comply with the order, she would be thrown in jail.

Oakland County Court Judge Karen McDonald said that even though Bredow was the child's primary caregiver: "Dad gets a say".

Because of that, a lot of anti-vax parents will go as far as to home-school their children so that they don't have to get them immunised.
