Netflix is raising its prices

Price increases at first were comparatively uncommon for Netflix-but then again, the entire idea of a streaming TV content service is, itself, barely ten years old. When exactly will Netflix prices start to increase? The company said that by the end of the year it will have spent around $6 billion for original content in 2017. As the standard plan gets you HD and 2 streams and the higher-end plan gets you 4K and four simultaneous streams.

Netflix is hiking its prices for many of its Irish subscribers.

The company sent out an email to all its users informing them of the price hike that will take place across the two premium tiers that offers.

KeyBanc analyst Andy Hargreaves, who rates Netflix at overweight, wrote that the benefit of increasing prices will outweigh a small hit to subscriber growth.

Catalans pledge to pursue independence
Almost 90 percent of those who voted were in favor of independence, but Madrid has declared the vote illegal. In response, the Spanish government in Madrid said it would not accept "blackmail" from the Catalan leader.

Last year, Netflix raised its standard HD plan to $9.99 per month, up from $8.99. Back in 2011, the company saw hundreds of thousands of customers drop its service after it said it would no longer include streaming and DVD rentals in a single subscription.

Amazon, Netflix and U.S. streaming service Hulu, are all reported to be working hard to discover and create the next "Game of Thrones" and secure the popularity of their business.

But the new revenue will only come if Netflix doesn't lose a ton of subscribers because of the price increase. This is, unfortunately, one of the plans which will be affected by the upcoming price hike. "We think that Netflix is destined to be a cash-burning, high-growth company until it changes its strategy and accepts its fate as a highly profitable slow-growth company".

The price increase also comes 11 days before Netflix is scheduled to report its third-quarter results.
