A woman and her three daughters were found stabbed to death along with their security guard in their house in Mansarovar Park area of Shahdara this morning, the police said.

After the police control room was informed of the murder at around 7.15 am on Saturday, police officials rushed to spot and are investigating the case, a CNN News18 report noted. All the five bodies were having knife wounds.

The deceased include four women Urmila (65), Sangeeta Gupta ( 43), Nupur (35), Anjali (33), and security guard Rakesh (50).

"Urmila's husband Ramkishan and his six brothers had established the Jindal Oil Mill in 1932, but later after he and his brothers passed away, Urmila started renting their 2,700 yard property in small portions to over 100 shops".

However, the Delhi police is trying to find out the motive behind the mass murder and a police team has started manhunt to nab the killers.

Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara), said that Urmila was planning to sell off some of her properties. The guard has been identified as Rakesh, 42, IANS reported.

"There were 40 members in our family living in the ancestral house". All five had their throats slit.

Relatives said no one heard any sound. The police were then called and the family members went upstairs to check on Urmila and her daughters. "A towel and a pillow, which might have been used to smother the victims, were also lying next to the bodies", said Shakun, wife of Urmila's nephew. "They looked like a happy family", said a family friend.

Reportedly, a sharp weapon has been recovered from the spot.

Four of the deceased belonged to the same family.
