Vegas shooter booked Chicago hotel room, scouted Boston sites, reports say

The Las Vegas massacre is the deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history, overtaking the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando on June 12 previous year. Paddock then booked a second room for an August 3rd Arrival.

According to Las Vegas officials, 22,000 people were in attendance at the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas when Paddock allegedly began firing into the crowd from his 32nd floor hotel room in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, hundreds of yards away.

The Blackstone Hotel is located at 636 S Michigan Ave, directly across the street from Chicago's Grant Park where the annual musical festival is held. Both rooms had an August 6th checkout which is when the festival ends.

Among the attendees at this year's Lollapalooza was former President Barack Obama's oldest daughter Malia, and acts on stage included The Killers, Chance the Rapper, Muse and Lorde.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) also said he was aware of the reports, but echoed Boston Police, noting that "because it's an ongoing investigation, I'm not going to speak any more to it than that".

Media outlets also reported Thursday that Paddock may have scouted sites in Boston as well.

But the 21-story hotel says that no one by that name actually checked into the hotel during the festival, and authorities have not confirmed that it was the same person as the Las Vegas shooter. The Mesquite, Nevada man killed 59 people Sunday night and wounded more than 500 others at a music festival, firing high-powered rifles from his 32nd-floor room at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in what was the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history.
