Sylvester Stallone to Direct Michael B. Jordan in 'Creed 2'

Sylvester Stallone announced via Instagram this week that he will direct and produce Creed II, writing that he is "looking forward" to directing "the incredible talented Michael B Jordan" next year.

Over the past few years, the Rocky franchise has taken a little turn - and 2015 gave us the first new and improved installment in the film series, in the form of Creed.

While Stallone only acted in Creed, he had written every other Rocky movie until then, and directed four of the films. That changed when director Ryan Coogler brought the idea of Creed to Stallone, and the results earned Stallone an Academy Award nomination.

Sylvester Stallone is returning to his most famous character for another round.

The film dealt with Donny's rise through the boxing ranks as he deals with never having known his father, the pressure his family name puts on him and juggling his career with his relationships with Balboa and love interest Bianca, played by Tessa Thompson. "One more Round!" said Stallone in the Instagram post.

MGM told Variety in response last month that the project remained in development. He and Jordan have apparently begun training sessions in anticipation of 2018's production. "If they didn't, I wouldn't be offended". Besides, it's not like Coogler hasn't moved on to greener pastures, and you can see him work wonders in Black Panther next year.

In 2015, Coogler picked up a script by Aaron Covington and sought permission from Stallone to continue Rocky's legacy, this time focusing on the son of his former foe Apollo Creed.
