Airtel offers 4G smartphone at Rs 1399

At the time, the telecom operator had kept mum on the pricing of its ultra low-priced 4G phone, but reports suggested the phone to come with a price tag upwards of Rs 2,500.

Bharti Airtel has partnered with Karbonn to offer a 4G-enabled smartphone known as Karbonn A40 Indian for Rs 1399, in a bid to counter Reliance Jio's latest JioPhone. The smartphones will be available across all retail stores in India.

Airtel's 4G smartphone is bundled with a monthly pack of Rs 169, which offers data and call benefits. Airtel says that the smartphone, which normally costs at Rs 3,499 will be available "effectively at the price of a feature phone".

The customer does not need to return the smartphone to either Airtel or Karbonn at any point as the ownership is with them only. Just like the 1500 JioPhone, the device does follow a set of terms and condition to make it an INR 1,399 rupees priced smartphone. The customer needs to make monthly recharges of Rs 169 for continuous 36 months.

Monthly recharges at the end of three years plus the initial down payment takes the total to Rs 8983. The cash refund benefit is reliant to those users who recharge with minimum Rs 3,000 within first 18 months (to claim the first refund instalment of Rs 500) and additional Rs 3,000 over the next 18 months (for second refund instalment of Rs 1000), the statement said.

As far ass the technical specifications of the Karbonn A40 Indian is concerned, the smartphone comes with a 4 inch display screen and is powered by 1.3 Ghz processor.

The mother reportedly said she entered the maze with a large group of adults and children, according to Daily News . The boy was found by a good Samaritan who took him to the maze staff.

The Karbonn A40 Indian is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Micro-SIM and Micro-SIM.

Moreover, the Karbonn A40 Indian also comes with a 2 MP camera at the back and a 0.3 MP camera on the front. This time Airtel is giving a tough fight by providing a touchscreen unlike a keypad phone by Jio.

However, the biggest win that Airtel gets here is when it comes to the OS.

Commenting on the association with Airtel, Pardeep Jain, Managing Director, Karbonn Mobiles said, "Karbonn is proud to announce its association with Airtel in order to provide exciting offers through bundled services".

The answer to that question boils down really to what you want from your affordable 4G phone. Since the Karbonn A40 is an Android phone, you get access to all the popular apps including Google's suite of apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, and so on. Reliance Jio is now offering a phone call of Rs 1500 and its phone is a feature phone, not a smartphone. And it's your call. The device offers a single SIM card slot with 4G LTE and VoLte capability.

Karbonn A40 Indian, the Android-based 4G smartphone will be having dual SIM slots and access to apps like Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube.
