Disney CANCELS Upcoming Animated Film 'Gigantic'

Despite Disney's best intentions, they have announced that their current animation project, Gigantic, has been moved into inactive development.

It had staff from "Inside Out", "Tangled" and "Frozen" attached, but Disney's remake of the Jack and the Beanstalk is being put on hold for now.

Animation is a long process and part of what makes Disney and Pixar special is their focus on storytelling.

Disney is putting the brakes on their original animated feature huge, the Jack and the Beanstalk-inspired movie that was set to hit theaters in 2020.

With animation being such a painstakingly detailed process, Disney's upcoming releases - including Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 and Frozen 2 - have been in the works for years. "With Gigantic, we've come to that point, and although it's a hard decision, we are ending active development for now".

Even though a Classic Mini Game Boy is not completely out of question, there are some limitations to it. The trademark was filed on September 15 , and included this Game Boy image.

Instead of "Gigantic", the studio is focusing on another project which is now being tabled for Thanksgiving 2020. It was set for a November 25, 2020 debut, but based on Catmull's statement, the other untitled animated film will now fill that slot.

Enormous would've been directed by Nathan Greno of Tangled and Meg LeFauve of Inside Out with songs by Robert and Kristen Anderson-Lopez of Frozen. Disney Animation and Pixar have both cancelled projects in the past, such as Pixar's Newt (due to story similarities with Rio) and Disney's King of the Elves.

No details yet on which film will take Gigantic's place in the lineup, though the report notes that it is another original feature.

With all the works that come out each week, it could be wrong to believe that the cinema has become a discipline that is easy and you just have to snap your fingers to lead a project.
