'Star Wars' books Rian Johnson for new trilogy, new characters

Rian Johnson, the writer and director of the upcoming film "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", will be creating an entirely new "Star Wars" film trilogy, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced in an earnings call on Thursday, according to Variety. These characters can be purchased with in-game Credits. Will it be Dark Side vs Light Side or First-Order vs Resistance?

Throughout December, faction choices will continue to matter, and players will be able to see each faction's progress reflected in-game.

Disney touted the box office success of two new "Star Wars" the last two released films, and expressed confidence "The Last Jedi" set for release next month would be a hit. The faction with the most points that week later will get a high-powered upgrade crate for their respective hero. Arriving on December 13 as well are new locations and vehicles like the planetary map of Crait, The Starfighter Assault map of D'qar, plus a new hero ship - Tallie Lintra's RZ-2 A-wing. These new chapters of Star WarsBattlefront™ II's single-player story mode will be available December 13. Sure I won't be getting some exclusive pre-order content, but it's more important to encourage game companies not to pull stunts like that with their releases.

It also has a handy file send/receive feature that can be done with another nearby phone even if you don't have a data connection. It's billed primarily as a file management app, letting users quickly locate content on their devices in one spot.

Also note - this means no Mark Hamill in the next Star Wars trilogy.

Judging from the mention of "Star Wars lore", these will be completely original stories not explored anywhere else within the extended Star Wars universe (books, comics, animated series, etc.). Down Star Destroyers the size of cities, use the Force to prove your worth against iconic characters such as Kylo Ren, Darth Maul, or Han Solo, as you play a part in a gaming experience inspired by 40 years of timeless Star Wars films.
