Earlier, many similar incidents of assault have been reported that have political tension in the state.

According to police reports, the RSS worker, identified as Vadekkethala Anandan (28) was attacked while he was travelling on his motorbike in Nenmini - near the temple town of Guruvayur. Three persons then got out of the auto and hacked Anandan.

He was rushed to the hospital even as he was bleeding profusely but succumbed before reaching the hospital, the police are quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. The killers abandoned the auto at the spot and escaped in another vehicle, they said. Vishnu, who sustained minor injuries, is in hospital. For the past three-and-a-half months, he had been out on bail. "Alleging that Jehadists had taken control of the CPI (M) in Kerala, Kummanam added that the CPI (M) was in direct and indirect contact with Islamists".
