Chevy Corvette ZR1 debuts with 755 horsepower

The Corvette ZR1's exclusive LT5 supercharged engine, which is rated at an SAE-certified 755 horsepower (563 kW) and 715 lb-ft of torque (969 Nm), is establishing a new benchmark in performance.

A new Sebring Orange Design Package will make it virtually impossible to ignore the new Corvette ZR1. An American auto manufacturer has travelled all the way to Dubai to showcase their latest offering, a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The biggest surprise, of course, is the power.

16 - That's the number of valves the ZR1's 6.2-liter V-8 has. That means more than a Pagani Huayra Roadster (with 754 HP), more than a McLaren 720S (with 710 HP), and more than a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (with 707 HP).

The LT5 engine generates the highest output ever for a Chevy production vehicle thanks to an efficient intercooled supercharger system and dual-fuel-injection system, which employs primary direct injection and supplemental port injection.

Tech wise, the ZR1 doesn't initially look to be as well-equipped as some European cars, but it appears to have a standard touchscreen infotainment system, likely GM's MyLink system which offers features such as data connections and iOS And Android phone integration. Previous models have all been seven-speed manual transmission only. It features Active Rev Matching, which Chevrolet debuted on the current-generation Corvette. We don't know everything about the ZR1 yet, but here are the most important figures released so far. As of now no zero to 60 or 1/4 mile times are available.

Okay, so the Corvette ZR1 isn't in that territory. That automatically increases the noise levels the harder you push it. Perhaps you can sneak one back from holiday in your hand luggage.

In fact, Chevrolet seems mighty keen to point out just how much better than the Z06 the new boss of the Corvette range is.

The second option is a high wing.

Unlike many cars, however, the ZR1 has two optional packs that help improve the aerodynamics of the auto.

Chevy hasn't revealed how quick it is, but says the ZR1 will break the 210 miles per hour barrier, which could put it within range of the $450,000 2016 miles per hour Ford GT.

Still, as you'd hope, that's not to say that the converse isn't true in either case. Although, the standard Low Wing package delivers the high top speed and also creates 70 percent more downforce than that of the Z06's base aero package.

Along with aero bits, the ZTK Performance Pack brings Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, and a special chassis and suspension tune.

Chevrolet returned the Corvette ZR1 to the lineup for 2009.

The ZR1 hits dealerships in the spring.
