Star Wars Battlefront II Patch Drastically Reduces Prices on Heroes

In an official post on the game's website, Executive Producer at DICE, John Wasilczyk gave an update on how much Heroes will cost in the game. But the jist of it was that despite EA claiming to make changes to the game that were more player friendly, it didn't seem to be the case.

The top six heroes were never available for a direct real money exchange; in-game credits are acquired either through game play or as a bonus in one of three loot crate varieties through which a player acquires new items or upgrades existing vehicles, fighter classes or unlocked heroes. However, according to Wasilczykt, "it's clear that more changes are needed".

EA has been quick to address the hero problem, though, publishing a blog outlining immediate changes just prior to the game's release.

None of this is enough to sway EA out of forcing players into a tedious grind to unlock their favorite characters, a grind that many commenters feel is created to make players give up and pay real money to get what they want. Despite being the main draw to a Star Wars game, EA has opted to lock these characters behind walls - either of progression or pay.

"As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch, the post reads. It will be live today, with an update that is getting loaded into the game".

Sweden qualify as Italy miss out on FIFA World Cup
Despite the embarrassment of a botched campaign this cycle, Buffon refused to lay the blame on manager Gian Piero Ventura . The play was nearly entirely focused on Sweden's back half in the final minutes.

The reduction means that Luke and Darth, for instance, will cost 15,000 credits instead of the previously-announced 60,000 credits; Emperor Palpatine, Chewbecca, and Princess Leia will go for 10,000; and Iden Versio, the star of the Battlefront 2 campaign, will be 5000. You can, of course, also play it yourself if you subscribe to the EA Access or Origin Access programs on Xbox One and PC, respectively.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 drops you right into the middle of some huge and hectic Star Wars battles from across the series.

EA concluded by saying it "will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback", and it's already delivered - a new post confirms that the characters' costs will be reduced by 75%. Presumably in response to the negative criticisms roiling the Battlefront II subreddit. "And we are engaged in that conversation, engaging with our players on a daily basis as we think about that".

EA earned $4.6 billion in 2016, making it the sixth most profitable company in the game industry, with Tencent, Sony, Activision Blizzard, Microsoft, and Apple outperforming it, reported AListDaily.

EA developers have reportedly received death threats in the wake of Battlefront II's loot box and microtransaction controversy.
