Two people were stabbed during an attempted robbery in the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota on Sunday, authorities said.

"Bloomington police immediately took appropriate actions to control last night's isolated incident to ensure the safety and security of our guests", the statement said.

Police have a suspect in custody.

When police arrived they found two adult males had been stabbed in the dressing room in the men's department of Macy's.

Officials took Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman, 20, of Minneapolis into custody and charged him with two counts of first-degree assault, CBS Minnesota reports. The second victim was stabbed after trying to intervene. They were transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for treatment. "Some other shoppers ran towards the screaming, and someone (who I believe was the victim's brother) yelled '911!' I called the police and hid". Police say both stabbing victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Abdirahaman, who is now being held on two counts of probable cause first-degree assault, was pictured in his mugshot bruised and bloodied.
