However, Samsung is reportedly taking these reports very seriously and planning to leave no stone unturned to fetch an enhanced iris scanner for its upcoming flagship device - Galaxy S9.

Samsung is rumored to introduce its Galaxy S9 flagship smartphone early next year, and VentureBeat claims the device might go public as soon as January.

The renders, which were obtained by BGR, show a rugged GHOSTEK case that wraps around the Galaxy S9.

The tipsters go on to state that Samsung is referring to the S9 phones as the Star 1 and Star 2, each with the model numbers SM-G960 and SM-G965. Unfortunately still back-mounted and not underneath the display, it is now orientated vertically with the fingerprint reader at the bottom, meaning there should be no need to smudge the camera lens anymore.

Atletico are also unbeaten through 12 league games but six of those have been draws to leave them in fourth, 10 points back. Despite the doom and gloom, Atletico have only lost one game in 17 in all competitions this season.

There's obviously no reason to radically change a winning flagship design... two years in a row, but the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 hardly look flawless, so a couple of important refinements are still to be expected with Samsung's "next big thing". Only one rear-facing camera will be present on the smaller S9. Samsung has entered the race of dual-camera smartphones with the Galaxy Note 8 earlier this year.

It will also only feature 4GB of RAM versus 6GB on the larger unit. Moreover, the fingerprint sensor will likely be placed at the back, specifically right below the camera.

The processor is also expected to be upgraded to the powerful Snapdragon 845 10nm model, while RAM will be increased to 4 GB for the S9 and 6 GB for the S9+, backed by 64 GB of storage and a microSD card.
