Give back on Giving Tuesday

Black Friday has become one of the biggest shopping days of the year across North America and Giving Tuesday was started as a way to promote giving, as opposed to getting. In its debut, the movement triggered more than $10 million in online donations, a 53 percent jump over the same Tuesday a year earlier.

Startups Give Back is the volunteering event where startups get out of their offices and work together to help nonprofits in their communities. "Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to support nonprofits and the difference they make in our everyday lives".

The Better Business Bureau is encouraging donors to give generously today, but also advises donors to do some investigation before giving. And, in the true spirit of Giving Tuesday, they provide a portion of every purchase to charity. When charities seek support for the same cause, their names are often similar. Facebook is also waiving its fees for donations made on #GivingTuesday.
