Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has laughed off speculation that the club tried to lure Lionel Messi away from Barcelona with a staggering financial offer.

Messi ended up extending his Barcelona contract, as he had always meant to do, and Guardiola claimed on Tuesday that reports of City's massive offer were "not true".

Messi's statue was unveiled on Paseo de la Gloria in June 2016 to commemorate his legendary status as one of Argentina's finest footballing exports. As with the first incident, authorities have yet to identify any suspects.

Conyers influenced debates over each issue as a member and, eventually , the chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee. Following these accusations, House minority leader Nanci Pelosi eventually asked Conyers to step down, as did Rep.

In January 2017, the sculpture suffered similar damage, with the torso and head torn off only a matter of months after it was placed in its current location.

Despite the statue being fixed soon after, however, the Daily Mail has now reported that looters have once again taken tools to the effigy - only this time they left the statue near its base after cutting it at ankle level. In 2014, the racket held by Sabatini's statue was cut off and stolen. That marked the fourth time a Messi-led Argentina squad lost in the final of a major global tournament, including the 2007 and 2015 Copa America and the 2014 World Cup, and he had come under some criticism for not achieving better results.
