Mayor of London Sadiq Khan arrived in Lahore

During the trip, he became the first ever London mayor to take a trade mission to both India and Pakistan.

The mayor, whose family originated in India but moved to Pakistan after partition, described it as an emotional journey, retracing his grandparents' steps. He arrived in Lahore on Wedesday from Wagah border and met with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

"The foreign minister also briefed the mayor about Pakistan's successes in the economic field and the regional situation", a Foreign Office statement said. "I am happy to know that Pakistan's economy is growing", he said, while thanking the mayor for according him a warm welcome. "It is the heart of Pakistan and is certainly the hub of Pakistani culture", he said. Sadiq Khan was born and raised in South London.
