With cold air at the surface, and the continued overrunning pattern in place, we are going to have to mention the chance for some snow across in these areas of state, Friday morning and into the afternoon as well.

And... a Winter Storm Warning has been issued for parts of southwest Alabama and southeast MS, with 1 to 3 inches possible in the warning area.

"Snow accumulations will be dependent on temperatures and precipitation intensity", forecasters said.

For this snow season, the Weather Service has added an interactive Snow Amount Potential chart.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Allen and Jefferson Davis parishes in Southwest Louisiana until noon Friday.

As of late morning Thursday, the National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center says there's a 40-50 percent chance in the Baton Rouge area of seeing at least one inch of snow accumulation from 6 p.m. Thursday through 6 p.m. Friday.

With temperatures dropping below freezing, any lingering wet stretches on roads may freeze, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
