Terry Crews sues agent Adam Venit for sexual battery

Terry Crews has filed a sexual assault lawsuit against WME agent Adam Venit in regards to Crews' claim that Venit groped him at a Hollywood party in February 2016.

Crews says he knew something was wrong immediately because Venit was staring at him "like a rabid dog" - and, instead of shaking his hand, grabbed his genitals.

According to TMZ, after Venit groped Crews, the actor called for help from Adam Sandler, a client of Venit's, who was also at the party and who checked in with him later that night.

Crews says on his way home from the event Adam Sandler called and asked if he was ok, and Crews responded that he was surprised he got molested at age 48.

The complaint, filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that "Venit, upon his first meeting Crews, viciously grabbed Crews' penis and testicles so hard that it caused Crews immediate pain in a blatant and unprovoked sexual assault", and claims that though he reported the assault to WME the next day, the agency took no action, thanks to their "unspoken policy of not punishing executives and agents for misconduct".

This reckoning appears to have sprung up overnight. "But it has actually been simmering for years, decades, centuries". This image represents the unnamed women and men who have come forward anonymously with their stories of sexual abuse.

"Honored to stand among these strong, fearless individuals to fight for what's right. and take our lives back", Crews wrote on Twitter on Wednesday after Time Magazine published the details of his account. "He's grabbing my nuts".

Most prominent of these was with Michael Strahan on "Good Morning America", in which the MI native said agent Adam Venit of the William Morris Endeavor (WME) made lewd mouth gestures toward him before grabbing his genitals.

His lawsuit states: "It is now time to hold Venit accountable for his sexual predatory behaviour and to hold WME accountable for its conduct in condoning, ratifying and encouraging Venit's sexual predatory behaviour". Now, he's chose to sue both WME and Adam Venit for sexual assault and battery.

Crews detailed the incident in a series of Tweets, before firing the agency and discussing the situation on Good Morning America. Crews says he told Emanuel he feared retaliation, but Emanuel said Venit "did not have that level of power despite his title as head of the Motion Picture Department".

WME has not yet replied to a request for comment.
