Matt had a different reaction to the engagement news.

Following Harry and Markle's engagement announcement, her exit from Suits was finally confirmed by USA Network, and during the couple's joint engagement interview last week, Markle explained why she had made the decision to quit acting.

"I feel sorry for her", Smith said.

However, while Matt was rather sympathetic to Meghan's plight, his co-star Claire Foy, who plays Queen Elizabeth on the Netflix drama, believed the royal engagement - and in particular, Meghan's divorcee status - signalled a change in the times.

The Crown star Matt Smith recently gave his unique perspective on Meghan Markle's engagement to Prince Harry.

Although Markle will be spending Christmas with her 33-year-old royal fiancé - and is expected to be joining the Queen at Sandringham - it's speculated that she's now traveling the globe and visiting friends and family before settling into her new life at Kensington Palace.

"I don't know whether she'll conform", Arbiter said.

Of course, Middleton herself has shared her excitement over Prince Harry's upcoming wedding.

Season 1 of the show showed the power struggle between Queen Elizabeth (played by Claire Foy) and Prince Philip as they navigated married life in the spotlight. Despite rumors Prince William's wife feels "jealous" and possibly overshadowed by Prince Harry's fiancée, one report is now shooting down claims suggesting there is bad blood within Britain's royal family. "And they really have".

She added: "I think that's why the monarchy will survive, and thrive, because it's willing to change and listen to the people and realize that some elements of the institution are outdated and unnecessary".
