Samsung's new Exynos 9810: 40% faster, 1.2Gbps LTE modem

"The Exynos 9810 has introduced features like neural network-based deep learning algorithms and stronger security".

Exynos 9810 boasts custom CPU cores, an upgraded GPU, and advanced machine-learning and image-processing capabilities. The Exynos 9810 will be a key catalyst for innovation in smart platforms such as smartphones, personal computing and automotive for the coming AI era. As per expected, Exynos 9810 is built on Samsung's 10nm manufacturing node. It also offers faster loading and a lesser transition time in between the apps.

Having an octa-core CPU, the Exynos 9810 and in that, four will have 3rd gen. custom cores that clock speeds up to 2.9 GHz, while the other four are for the power efficiency. Samsung says it has made considerable improvements to the CPU architecture, improving cache memory as well.

Samsung has developed the Exynos 9810 in order to better compete with Apple's iPhone X. The new Exynos 9810 leverages a bunch of new technologies that bring a 40% multi-core performance boost over the chip that was used in the Galaxy S8.

Here's the official line via Samsung: "This cutting-edge technology allows the processor to accurately recognize people or items in photos for fast image searching or categorization, or through depth sensing, scan a user's face in 3D for hybrid face detection".

According to Samsung, Exynos 9810 now features stronger security and takes advantage of deep learning in order to improve the security features that we will eventually get to experience in the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

Additional security features include a processing unit that safeguards user information like facial, iris and fingerprint data.

With the help of the LTE modem, apart from broadcasting or streaming videos at up to UHD resolution, it can play the 360-degree ones as well.

Inside, we're looking at the Exynos 9810 packing an industry-first Category 18 LTE modem that features 6x carrier aggregation that allows LTE bandwidth to really stretch its wings and reach 1.2Gbps. insane stuff. To add to it, the modem supports a 4×4 MIMO (Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output) and 256-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) scheme, and utilizes enhanced Licensed-Assisted Access (eLAA) technology.

The processor comes with a dedicated image processing and upgraded multi-format codec (MFC) as well.
