Samsung's new TV is called "The Wall" and is being pitched at "the world's first modular TV".

Samsung's The Wall TV measures 146 inches and you can connect these devices together to make a larger display.

Those who will opt for smaller, more "conventional" Samsung TVs also have something to look forward to. At the event, Jonghee Han, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said, "As the world's first consumer modular MicroLED television, "The Wall" represents another breakthrough. We're excited about this next step along our roadmap to the future of screen technology, and the remarkable viewing experience it offers to consumers".

Samsung's "The Wall" uses MicroLED technology that is "self-emitting".

In addition to providing infinite contrast like OLED, the tech can apparently improve the TV's power consumption and lifetime of the light sources.

The wall has a bezel-less design that Samsung describes as "module-based". The screen can adapt to serve different purposes, such as creating a wall-size display for multiple spaces.

The tech will be launched internationally, starting with Korea and the U.S. during the second half of 2018 - then Australia, we assume, but we'll keep you updated. Right now, there's still a paucity of 4K video, let alone even higher resolution content.

This AI technology upscales standard definition (SD) content to 8K resolution, and employs a proprietary algorithm to adjust screen resolution after calculating the picture quality characteristics of each scene.

This 8K solution maximizes the viewing experience through several new features.

If demonstrations are anything to go by Samsung's new 2018 TV technology is going to be hard to beat, it includes new MicroLED and new 8K TV technology that delivers crystal clear images that some analysts are tipping with give the edge back to the Korean company in the TV market. The company says the assistant will help enable easier interaction between TVs and their users, with the company referring to Bixby's "intuitive UX and comprehensive voice analysis capabilities". And with SmartThings integration, they can also control their entire smart home in the same way.
