Samsung to introduce refreshed version of Notebook 7 Spin

Samsung announced a trio of new Notebooks to join its 2018 line-up (some of which were already out in Korea), with the occasion of this year's CES: Notebook 9 Pen (image above), Notebook 9, and Notebook 7 Spin. Samsung seems to have focused more on building a lightweight, sturdy machine that gets the job done rather than on the design. The backlit keyboard includes features like a 1.5mm keystroke, curved keycap, and a Precision Touchpad. But the convertibles do feel super lightweight - the Notebook 9 pen is the lightest 360 convertible Samsung has made up to this point, according to the company. It should be noted that the display has a matrix with a diagonal of 13 inches and Full HD resolution.

It is powered by Intel i5 processor with up to 8 GB RAM. The moments I spent with the Notebook 9 Pen were perfectly snappy and indicated that it would slot into my daily workflow without issue, but this since this still non-final hardware, you'll have to wait for a more complete verdict. There's a 256GB solid-state drive (SSD) for storage needs. Its maximum display brightness isn't all that great at 450 nits, especially under direct sunlight. The Notebook also comes with one port each for USB-C, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HDMI. It comes with built-in Windows Hello for security.

Pinnacle Ridge Processors Not Coming Next Month After All
Don't expect any extra cores being squeezed into the new Ryzen 2 family, however. Lastly, AMD told attendees to expect Zen 2 in 2019 using a new 7nm process.

The biggest highlight of the hybrid laptop is Samsung's signature S Pen stylus borrowed from the Galaxy Note line. It's very similar to the S-Pen, which fans of Samsung's Galaxy Note series will be familiar with, and fits neatly at the base of the device. Think of its tablet mode as a convenient bonus. It allows you to jot down quick notes in OneNote or Samsung's Notes app. They can also Air Command, which is found on the Galaxy Note, too, to access shortcuts for marking up things.

You can even scribble written notes as the laptop records your surroundings, or you can make GIFs, by using the S Pen to capture bits of on-screen video. Considering it will be competing against Microsoft's Surface Book series, we expect the Notebook 9 Pen to undercut Microsoft's laptop.
