Oprah hasn't commented on the recent encouragement for a 2020 run, but friends have said she's thinking about it.

Trump appeared on Winfrey's long-running talk show in 1988 and again with his family in 2011, during her final season.

United States President Donald Trump has said he would beat talk show trailblazer Oprah Winfrey if she ran against him in 2020. "Can it please be?" The wagonload of conventional Democratic politicians already making plans to challenge President Donald Trump better hope not.

"I want all the girls watching here, now, to know that a new day is on the horizon", Winfrey said.

"I don't think at this point she is considering it, but listen, there are people who have said they want to be her campaign manager, who want to quit their jobs and campaign for her", King said on "CBS This Morning".

"I really think you have it or you don't have it", Trump replied.

"I like Oprah. I don't think she's going to run".

"That being said, she doesn't have the political infrastructure and we've seen this before in our history where people who have tried to pop in that are not in politics who have had a hard time adjusting".

Even so, for Democrats in early voting states, and perhaps for a public that largely disapproves of Trump's job performance, the notion of a popular media figure as a presidential candidate is not as odd as it once seemed.

The better-than-expected pace of net hiring past year allowed for more tightening in the labor market than anticipated. Payroll growth averaged 171,000 per month previous year , down slightly from 187,000 in 2016.

King notes that it would take a lot for Winfrey to campaign for president. There's no question in my mind that she would be extremely formidable.

Winfrey's speech as she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award touched on her humble upbringing and childhood wonder in civil rights heroes.

Spicer added that Winfrey didn't have the political experience to win an election against Trump - even though his old boss never worked in politics before becoming president, either.

Amid growing speculation over Oprah's potential political ambitions, Mr Trump's daughter and economic adviser Ivanka tweeted her support for her "empowering and inspiring" speech.

During the same interview, Winfrey insisted she would never consider a bid for public office. "I probably wouldn't do it, Oprah".

Late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel said Monday that he preferred Winfrey to Trump.

Oprah has always been associated with Democratic politics and fundraising and was a vocal early supporter of former president Barack Obama. I probably wouldn't, but I do get exhausted of seeing what's happening with this country.

Beyond her rise from poverty, Winfrey's success as a multidimensional media figure has come from promoting ways for women to assert themselves, typically outside the political arena.
